Some lessons are best understood through a story, so today Celeland is sharing one about trusting God for daily provision.
The verse: "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19, KJV)
The story: George Muller (1805-1898) ran an orphanage on Ashley Down in Bristol, England, and cared for more than 10,000 orphans in his lifetime. According to Wikipedia, he never made requests for financial support and never went into debt. He simply prayed. On one well-documented morning, the children sat at the breakfast table with nothing in the house to eat. They gave thanks anyway. As they finished praying, the baker knocked with enough fresh bread for everyone, and the milkman gave them plenty of milk because his cart had broken down outside.
The lesson: faith is not only believing God can provide. It is thanking Him at the table before the answer arrives, then staying ready to receive it. Muller also recorded every gift, even the smallest, which shows that trust and faithful stewardship walk together.
Prayer point: ask the Lord to grow your trust in His provision this week, and to make you a faithful steward of what He sends.
Over to you:
- When did God provide for you at the last minute, and how did it change your faith?
- What helps you keep thanking Him when the table looks empty?
