A Father to the Fatherless: George Muller and Psalm 68:5
"A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation." - Psalm 68:5 (KJV)

Today's lesson comes with a real life behind it. George Muller (1805-1898) was an evangelist who led the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England. According to Wikipedia, he cared for 10,024 orphans over his lifetime and set up 117 schools that gave a Christian education to more than 120,000 people.

What stands out is how he saw the verse. God calls himself a father to those with no one, and Muller took that as an invitation to act, not just to admire the words. He put his hands and his days where the promise pointed.

Many Celestians do the same in quieter ways: the parish that shares food on the street, the women's fellowship that visits the widow, the member who pays a child's school fees. None of it makes headlines, yet it is Psalm 68:5 at work.

Prayer point: Lord, show me one person near me who needs a father's care, and make me your hands for them.

Over to you:
- Who showed fatherly or motherly care to you when you needed it most?
- What is one practical thing our parishes could do this season for widows and children in need?
