Here is a youth programme with a theme many of us rarely hear from the pulpit. In September, the Youth Fellowship of CCC Goshenland Cathedral in Akobo, Ibadan, ran a multi-day programme called "Your Body, God's Temple", built on 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body."
According to the cathedral's own website, the programme ran from September 17 to 20, 2026:
- Thursday: an online seminar on faith and health, with guest minister Dr. Adekunle Totoola Adeyemi, a medical laboratory scientist.
- Friday: a night vigil of prayer, shown on the flyer under the title "Healing: God, Faith and Medicine".
- Sunday: a youth-led thanksgiving service.
The shepherd, V/S/E Emmanuel Akinpade, hosted, with S/E Ibukun Akinpade ministering. The organisers framed it around three ideas: spiritual purity, physical wellness, and mental balance. They also said that caring for the body, including sound medical care, goes together with faith in divine healing.
It is encouraging to see young Celestians talking about rest, health and mental peace alongside prayer and vigil. The cathedral also keeps a daily Bible reading plan and a YouTube channel, Goshenland TV, for those who want to follow along.
Over to you:
- How do you balance prayer and medical care in your own family?
- Does your parish talk about mental and physical health with its young people?
